The Delaware Technology Park Story

The Delaware Technology Park evolved from the work of former Governor Mike Castle’s High-Technology Task Force and with former Governor Tom Carper’s leadership. The task force focused on three high-technology areas that were central to the State’s economy: biotechnology, information technology and advanced materials. Current Governor Ruth Ann Minner continues that focus. Today, the Delaware Technology Park showcases Delaware’s technological and cooperative strengths to benefit researchers, established businesses and innovative entrepreneurs.

The mission behind the Delaware Technology Park is simple but essential – to promote economic development and innovation. To achieve these goals, the Park has developed an integrated system of technology-focused facilities and services to help:

  • Create and retain high-value jobs for the Mid-Atlantic region
  • Foster economic growth through the commercialization of new technologies
  • Incubate new technology-oriented businesses
  • Support the expansion of existing businesses into new technologies
  • Promote the reputation of Delaware's academic institutions
  • Partner with the Delaware Economic Development Office to attract and retain high-technology companies
  • Develop lasting partnerships among industry, government and academia
